More than 50 years after its premiere on Broadway and 46 years after the legendary screen
adaption with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, one of the most successful musicals
in history returns to its original location for the first time. It is the hit musical that has
captivated audiences around the world for years and has put the city of Salzburg on the
world map: “The Sound of Music!” For the first time, the Rodgers & Hammerstein Musical
will be in the city that is inseparably connected with the story of the Von Trapp Family from
23rd October in the Salzburg State Theater.
Wietske van Tongeren as Maria and Uwe Kröger as Baron von Trap lead an international
cast. The production team with Andreas Gergen, Christian Struppeck (Direction), Court
Watson (Art Direction), Kim Duddy (Choreography) and Peter Ewaldt (Music Director)
guarantees a world-class production.
